Epping Ongar Railway

Epping Ongar Railway runs steam and diesel locomotives between Ongar and North Weald, and also operates a diesel shuttle from North Weald going through the beautiful Epping forest, and a heritage bus service linking our stations to Epping Tube station.

We run a range of steam and diesel locomotives, you will travel within a traditional coach and travel through the beautiful rolling countryside passing your window, while listening to the engine and watching the wildlife. 

The railway offers the ideal way to explore the area, and with lots of attractions in the picturesque and historic Ongar town cente, the aerodrome museum at North Weald and lots of footpaths, there is something to suit all ages and interests, while travelling by heritage bus, steam and heritage diesel.

There are lots of ideas for days out on our website, which also has opening times, timetables and fares, on the cloest heritage railway to London. 

We also offer footplate and driver experience courses, are an ideal film location and classroom for those studying for a career in the railway industry. We are members of the Heritage Railway Association.
